To start with this venue has an exclusive use area for ceremonies. The amphitheater style garden just outside the main reception hall has uninterrupted views over Sydney Harbour. The photos of your nuptials with this background will be nothing short stunning whether its on a sunny day or even an atmospheric stormy day. If its a very hot day your guests can take shade under the awning or on the balcony above and still have a brilliant view of the wedding ceremony. In case it rains, The Sergeant Major’s Room and adjoining lounge area on the bottom level next to the tiered garden area is the perfect Plan B. In this area Champagne and canapes can be served straight after the ceremony
Is Sergeants Mess a great space for your wedding reception party?
When it comes to size Sergeants Mess is a large venue! It can seat up to 250 people for dinner or lunch or 350 for a stand up cocktail style reception. Bands can easily be accommodated for if you would love live music at your wedding. A decent dance floor is also easily accommodated for when the dancing kicks off. Even at capacity, couples can still walk around easily to chat and mingle with their guests.

In the vicinity of Sergeants Mess, Chowder Bay is one of the unique precincts of Headland Park. Photo opportunities are plentiful. From harbour views spanning across to Sydney’s skyline, there is also beautiful bush-land walkways, cobbled stairways and several jetty’s which lend to images that are sure to make it in your wedding album. My favourite spots for photos is against the little iconic boat-sheds and heritage listed buildings. They certainly help add a timeless charm to your wedding photos. The Food at Sergeants Mess
French and Italian cuisines are the highlight of the food at Sergeants mess. Created by respected and highly experienced chefs using local high quality produce, they are sure to please the fussiest guest. The menu includes all dietary requirements, and offers a variety of delectable options like roast barramundi or yogurt marinated lamb rump followed by apple and cinnamon creme brulée or chocolate mousse cake. I have only heard praise from guests during a wedding as to how much they have enjoyed their meal and of course the vino! Sergeants Mess food on the menu rates very highly with couples. Bon Appetit !
Parking around the venue
For guests driving to the venue, there is plenty of metered parking in the area. There are several ticket machines and the cost is around $20 which lets you stay for several hours and ample for the length of a wedding at Sergeants Mess. Complimentary venue parking is also available and from there the Sergeants Mess shuttle bus can transfer you to the venue. Information can be found on their website.
