Being a Sydney wedding photographer can be very rewarding and fun, you get to visit some amazing venues Sydney has to offer that you otherwise would never see, unless of course you are a socialite and get invited week in week out to some amazing functions and weddings in Sydney.
In this series I am going to focus on some of my favorite venues that I’ve had the privilege to photograph at from quaint little church halls to some grandiose venues fit for royalty. I’m also more than happy to answer any questions about wedding photography you may have have if you’re thinking of having your Sydney wedding in any of the venues that I’ll be showcasing.
For my first venue, Sergeants Mess in Mosman is nestled amidst native bushland, the views are just breathtaking as it sits just above beautiful Chowder Bay in Sydney Harbour. Since they started operating this venue has been voted by critics and bridal parties alike as Sydney’s Premier wedding venue. Wedding photography in Sydney has never had more choices of stunning venues.
Operated by the Grand Pacific Group these operators surely know the hospitality and wedding industry very well.

What a great way to start the new year with than with the wedding of Alix and Richard on a beautiful Sydney summer’s wedding day in Centennial Park and a beautiful lunchtime reception at the Grounds of Alexandria in The Atrium. The ceremony in Centennial Park in Sydney’s Moore Park and a stone’s throw from my terrace studio started quite early at 10am. The temperature was starting to rise early but luckily the ceremony was held at Centennial Park She–Oak Grove and very close to the paperbark grove which is another popular Centennial Park wedding venue. All sites in Centennial park offer the best wedding photo opportunities and although its a public park many of the spots offer ample privacy.
Very soon after the ceremony, all the guests made their way to The Atrium at the Grounds of Alexandria. The Grounds of Alexandria always get the best wedding reviews and today was no exception. The events held here are always looked after impeccably. As one of Sydney’s best wedding venues all the guests at this beautiful Sydney wedding were treated to an incredible afternoon of celebration. View some of my favourite wedding photos from Centennial Park and the Atrium.

On the first day of summer, Mitsumi and Ryan’s Sydney wedding was destined to be a great big party at The Boatshed in La Perouse Sydney. Their wedding ceremony took place at Little Bay Chapel. The chapel is a perennial favourite with Sydney couples. The chapel was built and paid for from Public Subscriptions raised by the PHH Trained Nurses’ Association as a registered charity. It opened in 1967. The Chapel is a National War Memorial and is a protected building.
Sydney Celebrant Pauline Fawkner conducted the ceremony. Mitsumi’s family and many friends travelled from Yokohama Japan as well as many other countries and states to help celebrate the couples union. The reception went well into the night at this new Sydney venue which has the feel of being on a Greek island taverna, especially during summer sunsets.
Daniela and Edwards wedding was a beautiful affair at St Mark’s Drummoyne and the reception was at well renowned Dunbar House at Watsons Bay in Sydney. With a beautiful view of Watsons Bay, local beaches and the city skyline, Dunbar House is a truly enchanting setting for a perfect wedding day.
Located just 30 metres from the shores of Sydney Harbour, in the expansive grounds of Robertson Park, Dunbar House is a historic mansion built in the 1830’s.
Our photo shoot locations shortly after church was at Hermit bay and The Macquarie Lighthouse in Vaucluse before making our way to Dunbar house for more photos before the reception started.
I had been to Dunbar House for weddings 3 times in the last 3 weeks and the service and hospitality offered by the staff and management at this venue is nothing short of excellent. The fare served at Dunbar house is superb and the photos below show the chefs perfectionis culinary skills.
The reception at Dunbar house was highly charged and family and friends of Daniela and Ed definitely knew how to party.
Love was definitely in the crisp and cool Southern Highland air when Victoria and Chris recently tied the knot at the Gibraltar Hotel in Bowral !
It was refreshing to leave Sydney for a brief moment to photograph this beautiful couples wedding down South, Vic and Chris were delightful to get to know ever since I was chosen two years ago to be the one who was going to capture the big day. They were side by side at High School and this time side by side at the Altar.
The Gibraltar’s 5 star luxurious surrounds was a fantastic backdrop for the ceremony and the reception, it may have been cold and crisp outside but it was warm and cosy inside with numerous fireplaces blazing.

Backtrack one week ago to Shari and Steves’ brilliant wedding day at The Grounds of Alexandria, one of Sydney’s premier wedding venues which by day is a must go to destination for lunch or just coffee. The day started at their inner city home where dozens of bottles of french champagne were on the ready to welcome the couples friends and relatives from Sydney and from overseas for pre wedding drinks and photos and where Shari’s parents were also going to give them a traditional Sri Lankan blessing before heading to the Atrium at the Grounds Alexandria where wedding celebrant Pauline Fawkner was going to perform the wedding ceremony just after sunset.
Location shots around the Grounds are always interesting, it always reminds me of a film set where everything is set up to get interesting atmospheric images. The cocktail reception for their 100 guests went well into the night, the food and drink was plentiful and I dont think a single guest would have been disappointed with the venues offerings.
It’s always a pleasure photograph weddings at the Grounds of Alexandria, the staff and management are highly attentive and personable to all guests and suppliers, which can be rare these days.

Thank you Shari and Steve for trusting us to create your wedding photographs.

Katherine and Mark’s Wedding at St Peter Chanel at Hunters Hill and reception at Orso Bayside at Mosman was a beautiful affair. This beautiful summer wedding was our first one for the year and right at the peak of a nice hot sunny afternoon. Katherine and Mark’s choice of venues and suppliers was perfect.
Their beautiful ceremony took place at one of Sydney’s most sought after Church at St Peter Chanel by Father Kevin Bates who added some humour to the service and was witnessed by a well attended crowd of family and friends.
For our location wedding photography we headed off after the ceremony to Bradleys Head on Sydney Harbour where the party boats in the area came up close with their eager and partied up well wishers fist-pumping with excitement.
Orso Bayside was the reception venue and its always a pleasure to work there, the staff and management are highly attentive and personable to all guests and suppliers, which can be rare these days. Cinematography supplied by Luke from Mears Production who traveled from Queensland and both Luke and Franky were a delight to work alongside.

Had a great Sydney summer afternoon with romantic Italian couple Adriana and Carlos taking photos and visiting some great wine-bars along the way in Surry Hills. I’m looking forwards to your wedding coming up in a few weeks time. That’s Amore.
A couple of Saturday’s ago I had the pleasure to photograph Sonja and Richard’s wedding at The Wayside Chapel in Sydney’s King Cross where Rev Graham Long officiated the union. Both Sonja and Richard devote a substantial part of their time to volunteering at Wayside so it was never a question where they were going to hold their Sydney wedding, check out Wikipedia take on the Wayside Chapel here. Graham Long is the pastor and CEO of the Wayside Chapel, helping homeless and marginalised people in central Sydney,
A huge cake in the shape of a pizza was made and handed out to all the guests that also included allot of guests that call the Wayside Chapel “home”, this was a very special moment of the wedding day, for Sonja and Richard’s celebration, they wanted everyone to have a piece of cake – while “That’s Amore” played in the background, “when the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie…” lalalala !
Richard and Sonja and the tuxedo wearing bridal party arrived in style in Vespas and sidecars with gave their Sydney wedding photographer Michael Zanetti plenty of photo opportunities in and around Surry Hills and Potts Point.
The Ethical wedding reception Party kicked off soon after the ceremony at The Freedom Hub in Waterloo, The Freedom Hub hosts ethical weddings and are the new ‘give back’ trend couples are looking for and the large warehouse adds the feel . All the profits from weddings or events hosted support people who have experienced human trafficking and slavery within Australia, read whats happening here….. The Vegan buffet was divine and was catered by Sonja’s daughter. The Vegan wedding cake made by My Little Panda Kitchen which I can attest to was absolutely moreish, If I hadn’t been told it was Vegan I would have never guessed. Sonja’s hair and make-up by Aleisha-Jane Beauty a very successful Surry Hills Beauty Salon.
We need more Ethical and Sustainable weddings in Sydney. Congratulations Sonja and Richard, cant wait to share more wedding photos with you. Love you long time xx
